So you own a Race car or just a street car and searching the old inner Web for parts! What catches your eye and make you wanna shop that one place?
Drag Racing what is it? Why do we do it?What make us want to go faster? Drag Racing has been around for a long time and doesn't seam to be going anywhere. How far back can you remember seeing things about drag racing its something that thrill seekers must do. I watched the entire Lights out 8 Race and was amazed to see how far we have come in the sport and its crazy 200 mph plus on a little radial tire 3.73 ET in the 1/8 mile thats crazy. I can remember when 10's-9s-8's and then 7's in the 1/4 mile where crazy. We live for the thrill some of us all we do is eat sleep and breath speed yes its a drug. I remember getting into it at a young age I tried to break away but it pulled me back in and I love it! I would love to here how you go hooked on the sport? Please share with a comment!
Well I haven't been on this Blog in quite some time but Im going to try to start using it. First off I would like to welcome you and thank you for stopping in and checking out this blog hopefully you were able to check out some videos and pictures. Now back to the Title "Keep it at the Track and Off the Streets" Maybe your wondering where it came from and why. Well towards the end of 2016 around Halloween I was approached by the Chief of Police of Toms River about helping them and try to help show people there is another solution to risk racing on the street. I am guilty as charged I used to be out there trying to catch a light on Route 37 when we all used to meet up in the Grand Union Parking lot, the bus depot, or Dover road and just race all night. But being stopped a few times and knowing that my license was a very important part of my life I moved my projects to the track. Anyway we came up with the idea of the cruise to Atco just to give people a taste of the track life and WOW I was not expecting the turn out we did over 200 Cars participated in the cruise. We had a great but COLD day at the track and we decided to do another. This time with a twist by adding a True Street Competition. Well we are currently sitting about double the amount of people participating in the cruise. This cruise will have a police escort once again from Toms River to Atco where we are going to have a great time. I know we will never stop the Street Racing but at least for one day we will all be doing it legal. Would love to hear your thoughts and ideas. Lets Make Drag Racing Great Again together!
Well Riccardi Racing has been very busy in the off season getting the Capri ready for the ring in 2013!
As you may know already we no longer will be Racing in NMRA Hot Street. Why you ask? There is no more Hot Street! Riccardi Racing was able to set the Record and win the last Event in Hot Street history! So we will be hold that last record for ever for the class that is no more. We will be now running on the NMCA side in Comp Cams 10.5 N/A Drag Class which is a completely new class! We are excited to make the switch over and meet and make new friends. To do this task we had to pull out all the stops to get ready due to the difference in rules. We had to get a few new make overs on the Capri. First stop we dropped the Capri off the Hell Bent Race Cars where the Zombies took over and went to town on the chassis and installed some new Carbon Fiber doors and Lexan Window's. Second stop while the car was at Hell Bent was to B&B Performance Machine and Dave Jack Cylinder Heads! Here is where the magic is made to get those High Revs and quick times. Bob and Dave have worked countless hours on some new tricks they had up their sleeves that I can not disclose at this time. We are going to be on the Dyno this weekend 3-9-2013 to see how much more power we make to rocket the Capri hopefully to the winners circle! While we were at the engine shop the Zombies gave us our car back and from there Dennis Varga the master of paint work went to town on the body gettting it ready for the paint scheme again that everyone voted on to keep! Many hours Dennis spent on the body getting it to his liking and when he felt it was up to par we trailered it over to Coury's Autobody which is where Dennis does his magic on a daily basis. As usual the work Dennis did is flawless. So as we speak the Capri is in the garage waiting for the motor which is coming home Saturday and getting placed in the engine bay and from there we will get it running and hope to see some awesome numbers in Bradenton on 3-21-2013 ! We hope to continue right where we left off last year as winners! Cross you fingers and cheer for Riccardi Racing. Just goes to show you can still win with a very small budget against the big dollar boys! Stay Tuned!!! So I have been racing the Capri for over 15 years now and with every year that passes we go a little quicker. What we have learned from being at the track making new friends and even some enemies is that if you are really passionate about what you love to do you will go futher then ever imagined
So when you think of drag racing what's the first thing that comes to mind? Is it the sound of high reving engines? Is the smell of fuel in the air? I can remember as a kid going out to the track with my dad and uncle and it was a awesome experience for me that has stayed with me until present day! The smell the anticipation of what the next car would run! If you love drag racing share with us what got you started in this hobby!
